Alocasia odoraest une plante vivace à feuilles persistantes dont les fleurs dégagent un doux parfum (odora). La plante peut facilement passer l’été à l’extérieur ; des températures de courte durée allant jusqu’à 10°C ne sont pas tolérées.Alocasia odoran'est pas propre à la consommation, mais est utilisé à des fins médicinales dans certains pays d'Asie du Sud-Est (contre les rhumes dans le nord du Vietnam).
