Syngonium podophyllum 'Panda'

Name: Syngonium podophyllum ‘Panda’

Etymology: The genus name Syngonium refers to the interconnected ovaries. podophyllum means “foot-shaped leaf.” ‘Panda’ refers to the variegated cultivar.

Origin: The species is native to tropical America; ‘Panda’ is a cultivated selection.

Location/Growing conditions: We grow the plant in warm conditions at around 20–29 °C, with moderate to high humidity and bright, indirect light. We keep the loose aroid potting mix evenly moist. A climbing support promotes larger, more mature leaves.

Description and notes: ‘Panda’ develops green leaves with irregular light variegation. No leaf is exactly alike. As the plant ages, the shape of the leaf blade also changes significantly.
