Name: Porroglossum dactylum Luer
Etymology: The genus name Porroglossum refers to the characteristic tongue-shaped lip. The epithet dactylum is derived from Greek and means "finger-like".
First description: The species was described in 1988 by Carlyle A. Luer.
Origin / Habitat: Ecuador, Morona-Santiago Province, as an epiphyte on thin, moss-covered branches at elevations of approximately 1500–1700 m.
Description & Notes: Small Porroglossum with slender stems and 8–9 cm long inflorescences, on which usually two to three non-resupinate flowers of about 1–1.2 cm appear sequentially. We cultivate it in shaded to bright indirect light, with high humidity and good air circulation. We keep the substrate evenly moist and do not let it dry out completely. We keep it cool, at around 12–20 °C.
