Phragmipedium Eric Young

Name: Phragmipedium Eric Young

Etymology: The genus name Phragmipedium is derived from the Greek phragma ("partition, screen") and pedion ("shoe"). The grex name Eric Young honors Eric Young and was bestowed by the Eric Young Orchid Foundation.

Registration: The primary hybrid was registered with the Royal Horticultural Society in 1991.

Origin / Breeding: A cross between Phragmipedium besseae and Phragmipedium longifolium.

Description & Care: A robust primary hybrid with pink to red flowers and the typical shoe of the genus. We keep it evenly moist, with good air circulation and bright, indirect light. The substrate should not dry out completely. We cultivate it at approximately 15–29°C.
