Description

Phragmipedium Andean Fire

Name: Phragmipedium Andean Fire

Parents: Phragmipedium besseae × Phragmipedium lindleyanum

Registration: Grex registered with the RHS; registered in 1992 by L. Schordje, origin G. R. Clements.

Location/Culture: We grow Phragmipedium Andean Fire under intermediate conditions at about 16–25 °C, in bright to partial shade, with high humidity and good air circulation. We keep the airy, moisture-retentive substrate consistently moist and avoid letting it dry out completely.

Description and Notes: This hybrid combines the intense red coloration of Phragmipedium besseae with Phragmipedium lindleyanum. Despite the more vigorous parent, the plants can remain relatively compact. The flowers frequently display warm red to reddish-brown tones.
