etymology: melanochrysum: melano = dark, black, chryseus = golden

Origin: Colombia
Location: hemiepiphytic climbing plant, around 800m, in the humid tropical forest of the Pacific Andes.
Remarks: The leaves of Philodendron melanochrysum are of extraordinary beauty, dark black-green with golden yellow veins, a real eye-catcher and highlight in every collection.
The plant was first found by M. Roezl (?) and subsequently described by André. However, no other Philodendron melanochrysum were found in the area mentioned as the original location, the collections of the plants known today were made years later in another area that was not disclosed, only 800m altitude was confirmed.
