Name: Oncidium Holiday Yellow
Etymology: The genus name Oncidium is derived from the Greek word for “swelling” or “bump” and refers to the callus on the lip. The grex name Holiday Yellow describes the flowers’ bright yellow overall appearance.
Location/Growing Conditions: We recommend a bright location with filtered light, high humidity, and good air movement. The potting medium should be fine to medium-grade, airy, and well-draining, and should be kept evenly and lightly moist during growth. Cool-intermediate to intermediate temperatures of about 14–24 °C are well suited.
Description and Notes: Oncidium Holiday Yellow produces pseudobulbs with elongated leaves and upright to arching inflorescences bearing striking yellow flowers. The plant is well suited to bright, airy orchid culture. We water regularly while new growths are developing; once the pseudobulbs have matured, watering can be reduced somewhat without allowing the plant to dry out completely.
