Name: Vandachostylis Lou Sneary
Parents: Vanda falcata × Rhynchostylis coelestis
Registration: The Lou Sneary grex was registered by Hajime Ono in 1970.
Etymology: The genus name Vandachostylis refers to hybrids from the Vanda and Rhynchostylis lineage. Lou Sneary is the registered grex name of this well-known primary hybrid.
Location/Growing Conditions: We grow the plants in bright, filtered light, with high humidity and very good air circulation. Temperatures of around 16–28 °C are well suited. The vigorous roots are watered regularly, but should be allowed to air out well afterward and not remain constantly wet.
Description and Notes: Vandachostylis Lou Sneary is a compact primary hybrid with narrow leaves and vigorous aerial roots. The numerous flowers appear on upright to slightly arching inflorescences and can be whitish, pink, purple, or bluish depending on the seedling. Many plants emit a pleasant fragrance. A very airy pot culture or culture with largely exposed roots is particularly suitable.
