Name: Miltonidium Aloha Passion ‘Golden Gate’
Parents: Miltonidium Memoria Mary Kavanaugh × Oncidium Alcatraz
Registration: The grex Miltonidium Aloha Passion was registered with the RHS in 1999. J.W. McCully is listed as the registrant and T. Perlite as the originator.
Etymology: The intergeneric name Miltonidium denotes hybrids between Miltonia and Oncidium. ‘Golden Gate’ is the cultivar name of this selected form.
Location/Cultural conditions: We recommend a bright location with filtered light, high humidity, and good air circulation. The potting medium should be fine to medium coarse, airy, and able to retain a little moisture. Keep it evenly and lightly moist during growth, without allowing waterlogging. Cool-intermediate to intermediate temperatures of about 14–24 °C are well suited.
Description and notes: Miltonidium Aloha Passion ‘Golden Gate’ is an attractive Oncidium relative with pseudobulbs, narrow leaves, and branched inflorescences. Its many striking flowers display the combination of contrasting patterns and a broad lip typical of this hybrid group. Once a new shoot has finished growing, the next inflorescence may develop from its base. We avoid allowing the plant to dry out completely for extended periods, especially during active growth.
