Name: Lepanthes escobariana × Lepanthes niesseniae
Etymology: The genus name Lepanthes is derived from the Greek lepis ("scale") and anthos ("flower"), referring to the scale-like overlapping floral parts. The epithet escobariana honors Colombian orchid researcher Rodrigo Escobar Restrepo; niesseniae honors Andrea Niessen, a Colombian orchid breeder.
Origin / Breeding: Hybrid of Lepanthes escobariana × Lepanthes niesseniae. L. niesseniae originates from the Valle del Cauca in Colombia and grows epiphytically in humid tropical forests.
Description & Notes: Small Lepanthes hybrid with the single-leaf structure typical of the genus and successive small flowers. We cultivate them in bright to shaded conditions with high humidity and good air circulation. We keep the substrate consistently slightly moist and do not allow the fine roots to dry out completely. We grow them at approximately 13–22 °C.
