Lepanthes curiosa

Name: Lepanthes curiosa Luer

Etymology: The genus name Lepanthes is derived from Greek words for "scale" and "flower." The specific epithet curiosa means "unusual" or "curious."

First description: 2000 by Carlyle A. Luer.

Origin/Distribution: Ecuador.

Location/Habitat: Epiphytic on thin, mossy branches in humid cloud forests at approximately 1,800 m. Cool to intermediate conditions of about 11–21 °C, very high humidity, and gentle air movement are recommended.

Description and notes: The upright shoots bear inflorescences on which numerous small flowers can appear in succession. A padded mount or fine, airy sphagnum is suitable. Keep the fine roots evenly moist and never allow them to dry out for long.
