Epiphronitis veitchii

Name: Epiphronitis Veitchii

Parents: Epidendrum radicans × Cattleya coccinea

Registration: Historic hybrid by Veitch, registered in 1890.

Etymology: Veitchii recalls the long-established Veitch orchid nursery.

Location/Cultural Conditions: We grow this hybrid under intermediate conditions at around 14–25 °C, in very bright light and with good air movement. During growth, we water regularly and let the airy potting medium dry slightly between waterings.

Description and Notes: This historic cross combines the upright growth and floriferousness of Epidendrum radicans with the compact size and intense color of Cattleya coccinea. Our material consists of divisions from an old plant regarded as belonging to the original Veitch line.
