Description

Cattleya Elegans (1879) 'Purple' x 'The Best'

Name: Cattleya Elegans (1879)
Synonyms: Laeliocattleya Elegans (1879)

Parents: Cattleya tigrina x Laelia purpurata
Breeder: hort.
RHS Registration: hort.
Notes: The hybrid name Elegans was used multiple times in the early days of registration, which is why it is always given with the year for correct identification. Since neither the breeder nor the registrant is known, the abbreviation hort. (= originating from horticulture) is used here.

Location/Cultivation Conditions: Intermediate to warm at around 16–28 °C and very bright. Cultivate in coarse bark, water abundantly during growth, and then allow to dry out well.
