Name: Brassavola tuberculata Hook.
Etymology: The genus name Brassavola honors the Italian physician and naturalist Antonio Musa Brassavola. The specific epithet tuberculata means "provided with small tubercles" and refers to features of the flower structure.
Origin/Distribution: South America, primarily Brazil.
Location/Habitat: Epiphytic or lithophytic in bright, airy locations. We recommend plenty of light, good air circulation, and warm to intermediate temperatures.
Description and Notes: Brassavola tuberculata forms slender, cylindrical leaves and elegant, star-shaped flowers with narrow greenish-white segments and a striking white lip. The flowers can be intensely fragrant, especially in the evening and at night. We cultivate this species mounted or in a very coarse, fast-draining orchid substrate. Water regularly during growth; afterwards, the roots must be able to dry out quickly. Temperatures of approximately 18–30 °C and a bright location promote vigorous development.
