Anthurium wendlingeri

Name: Anthurium wendlingeri G.M.Barroso

Etymology: The specific epithet wendlingeri commemorates K. Wendlinger, who collected the type material in Costa Rica.

Origin/Distribution: Central America to northwestern South America.

Habitat/Environment: Epiphytic in warm, very humid tropical forests. We cultivate the species in warm conditions at approximately 20–28 °C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, indirect light. We keep the coarse, highly aerated substrate evenly slightly moist.

Description and Notes: Anthurium wendlingeri develops long, pendulous, leathery leaves. Particularly characteristic is the extraordinary, corkscrew-like coiled spadix. Due to its pendulous growth habit, the species is particularly suitable for hanging baskets or elevated growing locations.
