etymology: truncicolus = growing on the tree trunk

Origin: Colombia, Ecuador, Peru
Location: Terrestrial based, hemiepiphytic and epiphytic climbing Anthurium, which occurs on both sides of the Andes at altitudes of 300-1500m.
Remarks: Anthurium.platylobum, Sodiro 1901, is today treated as a synonym of Anthurium truncicola. According to Tom Croat (pers. mess.), however, it is worth considering elevating this locality variant to variety status.
