Name: Anthurium splendidum W.Bull ex Rodigas
Etymology: The specific epithet splendidum means "magnificent" or "shining" and describes the extraordinary appearance of the species.
Origin/Distribution: Colombia.
Location/Habitat: Terrestrial in very humid, shaded forests of the Pacific Andes. We cultivate the species intermediately to warmly at about 18–26 °C, with very high humidity, good air circulation, and bright to semi-shaded, indirect light.
Description and Notes: With its strongly relief-like, almost wrinkled-looking leaves, Anthurium splendidum is one of the most striking ornamental-leaf anthuriums. Constantly high humidity is particularly important; in dry room air, the large leaves quickly react with a loss of turgor. The substrate should be coarse, airy, and evenly slightly moist.
