Name: Anthurium rugulosum Sodiro ‘Lluruqui’
Etymology: The genus name Anthurium derives from the Greek anthos (“flower”) and oura (“tail”). The specific epithet rugulosum means “slightly wrinkled” and refers to the characteristic leaf surface. ‘Lluruqui’ denotes the selection offered.
First description: In 1902 by Luis Sodiro.
Origin/Distribution: Ecuador.
Location/Habitat: In humid Andean and cloud forests at mid to higher elevations. We grow this selection in cool to intermediate conditions at around 14–23 °C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright to semi-shaded indirect light. We keep the coarse, humus-rich substrate evenly and slightly moist, while avoiding waterlogging.
Description and notes: Anthurium rugulosum ‘Lluruqui’ has firm, elongated leaves with a distinctly textured to finely wrinkled surface. Like the species in general, this selection also benefits from cooler nights. Consistent moisture and good air circulation support vigorous, healthy growth.
