Description

Anthurium rugulosum 'Chocolate'

Name: Anthurium rugulosum Sodiro ‘Chocolate’

Etymology: rugulosum means “slightly wrinkled” and refers to the textured leaf surface. ‘Chocolate’ denotes the cultivar offered.

First described: 1902 by Luis Sodiro.

Origin/distribution: Ecuador.

Habitat: Moist Andean and cloud forests. We cultivate this cultivar in cool to intermediate conditions at approximately 14–23°C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright to partially shaded light.

Description and notes: Characteristic are firm, elongated, and finely wrinkled leaves. ‘Chocolate’ is distinguished by a particularly dark, warm leaf appearance. Cooler nights support vigorous growth.
