Description

Anthurium papillilaminum

Name: Anthurium papillilaminum Croat

Etymology: The specific epithet papillilaminum refers to the finely papillose or velvety surface of the leaf blade.

Origin/Distribution: Panama, particularly the provinces of Colón and Darién.

Location/Habitat: Terrestrial in warm, very humid lowland forests near sea level. We recommend approximately 21–29 °C, high humidity, gentle air movement, and bright, diffused light.

Description and Notes: This highly sought-after species produces velvety, very dark, heart-shaped leaves with distinctly recessed venation. New leaves may emerge bronze to reddish in color and darken as they mature. Keep a coarse, humus-rich, and very airy aroid substrate evenly moist. Avoid cold drafts, direct midday sun, and waterlogging.
