Description

Anthurium metallicum seedling

Name: Anthurium metallicum Linden ex Schott

Etymology: The genus name Anthurium is derived from the Greek anthos and oura. The specific epithet metallicum refers to the metallic sheen of the leaves.

Origin/Distribution: Colombia.

Location/Habitat: A montane species that we cultivate in cool to intermediate conditions at approximately 14–23 °C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, indirect light. The coarse substrate should remain evenly slightly moist.

Description and notes: Anthurium metallicum develops long, elegant leaves with distinctive venation and a metallic, velvety appearance. In seedlings, the final leaf proportions are not yet fully formed and only develop with increasing age.
