Description

Anthurium luxurians L

Name: Anthurium luxurians Croat & R.N.Cirino

Etymology: The genus name Anthurium is derived from Greek and refers to the flower-like appearance of the inflorescence. The epithet luxurians means "luxuriant" or "abundant".

First description: The species was described in 2005 by Thomas B. Croat and Richard N. Cirino.

Origin / Habitat: Colombia, where the species is considered endemic. It grows as a herbaceous to semi-shrubby plant in moist tropical habitats.

Description & Care: Striking Anthurium with large, highly textured leaves and vigorous growth. We cultivate it in bright to partial shade, warm conditions, with high humidity and good air circulation. We keep the substrate evenly lightly moist and avoid waterlogging. We keep it at around 18–28 °C.
