Name: Anthurium longistrorsum Croat
Etymology: The genus name Anthurium derives from the Greek words for “flower” and “tail.” The specific epithet longistrorsum refers to its long, winding growth habit.
First described: In 2021 by Thomas B. Croat.
Origin/Distribution: Ecuador.
Habitat: Terrestrial in humid forests of the Pacific Andes, at elevations of approximately 1,000–1,500 m. For cultivation, temperatures of around 18–27 °C, high humidity, and bright, filtered light are recommended.
Description and notes: This species develops large, attractive, heart-shaped leaves with prominent primary veins radiating from the leaf base, as well as a climbing stem. Young plants are available. A climbing support, a coarse, airy substrate, and consistently light moisture support healthy growth.
