Description

Anthurium lentii 'Ecuagenera'

Name: Anthurium lentii Croat & R.A.Baker ‘Ecuagenera’

Etymology: The genus name Anthurium is derived from the Greek anthos (“flower”) and oura (“tail”). lentii honors the plant collector Roy Lent; ‘Ecuagenera’ designates the offered selection.

Original description: 1979 by Thomas B. Croat and R.A. Baker.

Origin/Distribution: Costa Rica and Panama to northwestern South America.

Location/Habitat: Terrestrial to epiphytic in humid mountain forests. We cultivate this species at approximately 17–26 °C, high humidity, good air circulation, and bright to partial shade. We keep the coarse, humus-rich substrate consistently slightly moist.

Description and notes: The elongated, firm leaves have prominent main veins and a slightly wavy structure. The ‘Ecuagenera’ selection is cultivated under the same conditions as the species.
