Description

Anthurium flavolineatum

Name: Anthurium flavolineatum Sodiro

Etymology: The specific epithet flavolineatum combines the Latin flavus ("yellow") and lineatus ("striped").

First described: 1905 by Luis Sodiro.

Origin/Distribution: Ecuador.

Location/Habitat: Terrestrial or epiphytic in moist montane and cloud forests. We cultivate the species intermediately at approximately 16–25 °C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright to partial shade, indirect light.

Description and notes: Anthurium flavolineatum has a characteristic inflorescence with a short purple spadix and a striking spathe. We keep a coarse, humus-rich, and well-ventilated substrate evenly moist.
