Name: Anthurium clarinervium Matuda
Etymology: The specific epithet clarinervium means “with clearly visible veins” and refers to the contrasting leaf venation.
Origin/Distribution: Mexico.
Location/Habitat: The species is particularly associated with limestone-rich, rocky sites in Chiapas. We grow it in warm to intermediate conditions at around 18–27°C, with moderate to high humidity and bright, indirect light. The coarse, very well-draining substrate may dry out slightly on the surface between waterings.
Description and Notes: Anthurium clarinervium is a compact species with firm, heart-shaped, velvety dark green leaves and very striking light venation. It is well suited to a windowsill, provided that waterlogging is avoided and good air circulation is ensured.
