Name: Anthurium ceronii Croat
Etymology: The genus name Anthurium is derived from the Greek words for “flower” and “tail,” referring to the spadix inflorescence. The specific epithet ceronii honors the Ecuadorian botanist Carlos Cerón.
Origin/Distribution: Northwestern South America.
Location/Habitat: An epiphytic species from moist forests at intermediate elevations. We cultivate it in intermediate to warm conditions at approximately 18–26 °C, with high humidity, gentle air circulation, and bright, indirect light.
Description and Notes: Anthurium ceronii is distinguished by its elongated, pendulous leaves with a striking, leathery texture. Its growth habit is particularly well suited to a basket or hanging pot. A very airy, coarse aroid potting mix that retains moisture without becoming waterlogged is recommended. Water regularly with soft water and never allow the root zone to dry out for extended periods.
