Description

Anthurium cabrerense

Name: Anthurium cabrerense Engl.

Synonyms: Anthurium lehmannii var. cabrerense Engl.

Etymology: The genus name Anthurium means “tail flower”; the epithet cabrerense refers to the Río Cabrera, near which the species was described.

Origin/Distribution: Colombia.

Location/Habitat: Dense, moist montane forests at high altitudes. Cultivate in cool to intermediate conditions of approximately 14–24°C, with filtered light, high humidity, and good air circulation.

Description and Notes: A rarely cultivated species with large, attractive foliage and dark wine-red to almost black inflorescences. We recommend a coarse, airy aroid substrate, consistent light moisture, and protection from heat and waterlogging.
