Name: Anthurium Dark Duke
Parents: Anthurium pulcachense × Anthurium luxurians
Cultivation: Hybrid by Ecuagenera.
Etymology: The genus name Anthurium derives from the Greek anthos ("flower") and oura ("tail"). Dark Duke is the horticultural name of this dark-leaved hybrid.
Location/Growing Conditions: We grow the hybrid warm at around 20–28 °C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright to partial shade, indirect light. The coarse, airy aroid substrate should remain evenly lightly moist without being constantly wet.
Description and Notes: Anthurium Dark Duke develops strong, thick, and leathery leaves with a pronounced surface texture. The heart-shaped leaf form is influenced by Anthurium pulcachense, while Anthurium luxurians contributes the striking relief-like texture. The underside of the leaf can show an attractive reddish contrast along the veins. Seedlings vary in shape and texture.
