Name: Anthurium After Midnight
Parents: Anthurium altaverapazense × Anthurium luxurians
Cultivation: Hybrid by Ecuagenera.
Etymology: The genus name Anthurium is derived from the Greek words anthos ("flower") and oura ("tail"). After Midnight refers to the very dark foliage of this hybrid.
Location/Growing Conditions: We grow the hybrid warm at around 20–28 °C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright to partial shade, indirect light. We keep the coarse, airy aroid substrate evenly slightly moist and avoid waterlogging.
Description and Notes: Anthurium After Midnight develops bold, thick, leathery leaves with a distinctly textured surface. Anthurium luxurians contributes the striking relief texture, while Anthurium altaverapazense influences leaf size and growth. With suitable lighting, the raised areas of the dark green leaf surface can appear particularly three-dimensional. Seedlings vary in shape and texture.
