Description

Alocasia sanderiana Nobilis S (11 cm pot)

Name: Alocasia sanderiana W.Bull ‘Nobilis’

Synonyms: Schizocasia sanderiana (W.Bull) Engl.

Etymology: The specific epithet sanderiana commemorates plant dealer Henry Frederick Conrad Sander. ‘Nobilis’ refers to the selection offered.

Origin/Distribution: Philippines.

Location/Habitat: Terrestrial in humid tropical forests. We grow the young plants in warm conditions at around 20–28 °C, with high humidity and bright, indirect light. We keep the humus-rich, airy substrate evenly and slightly moist.

Description and Notes: The dark green, arrow-shaped leaves have strongly contrasting pale veins and a distinctly wavy margin. In young plants, this characteristic pattern becomes more pronounced as the leaves grow larger.
