Name: Alocasia baginda Kurniawan & P.C.Boyce ‘Dragon Scale Mint’
Etymology: The Malay word baginda is an honorific title for royalty. ‘Dragon Scale Mint’ describes the scale-like, textured, mint-colored leaf pattern.
First description: 2011 by W. Kurniawan and Peter C. Boyce.
Origin/Distribution: Borneo, Indonesia.
Location/Habitat: Terrestrial in warm, humid tropical forests. We recommend approximately 21–29 °C, high humidity, gentle air circulation, and bright, indirect light.
Description and notes: This compact cultivar features thick, highly textured leaves with dark venation and silvery mint-green surfaces. The XS plant offered requires a loose, humus-rich, and mineral-permeable substrate. Keep evenly slightly moist, but avoid waterlogging, cold drafts, and direct midday sun. The roots are sensitive if grown in conditions that are too cool or too wet.
