Description

Philodendron subhastatum 'Ecuagenera'

Name: Philodendron subhastatum ‘Ecuagenera’

Etymology: The specific epithet subhastatum refers to the nearly lanceolate shape of the leaves. ‘Ecuagenera’ denotes the selection cultivated by Ecuagenera.

Location/Cultivation conditions: We cultivate the plant in warm conditions at around 20–28 °C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, indirect light. A climbing support and coarse, humus-rich aroid substrate promote vigorous growth.

Description and notes: Particularly attractive is the contrast between the green upper surface of the leaves and the reddish to burgundy tones of the undersides and young plant parts. As the plant matures, the leaves become longer and more distinctly shaped. We keep the substrate evenly moist.
