Description

Philodendron scherberichii 'Ecuagenera'

Name: Philodendron scherberichii Croat & M.M.Mora ‘Ecuagenera’

Etymology: The specific epithet scherberichii honors the French aroid specialist David Scherberich. ‘Ecuagenera’ denotes the cultivated selection.

Origin/Distribution: Colombia.

Location/Habitat: A montane species from very high altitudes in the Colombian Andes. We cultivate it in cool to intermediate conditions at approximately 14–23 °C, with high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, indirect light. We avoid sustained intense heat.

Description and Notes: Philodendron scherberichii is one of the unusual high-montane members of the genus. We keep a coarse, humus-rich, and very airy aroid substrate consistently slightly moist. Good air circulation and cooler nights are particularly important.
