Name: Philodendron scherberichii
Description & Care: A botanical Philodendron species with decorative tropical foliage, particularly interesting for collectors of rare aroids. We cultivate it under consistent conditions with an airy root zone and provide a suitable climbing support for its vining growth.
Light: Bright to partial shade with plenty of indirect, filtered light. Avoid intense, direct midday sun.
Temperature: Temperate to warm, ideally around 18–26 °C. Avoid significant temperature fluctuations and consistently low temperatures.
Water & Humidity: Keep evenly slightly moist and allow the top layer of substrate to dry out slightly between waterings. Avoid waterlogging. Increased humidity of about 65–85 % is beneficial; at the same time, ensure good air circulation.
Substrate: Loose, coarse, and very airy aroid substrate consisting of bark, coconut chips or coconut fiber, as well as mineral components like perlite or pumice. The substrate should retain moisture but drain excess water quickly.
