Location: Philodendron quelalii is only known from western Ecuador in the provinces of Esmeraldas and Carchi at an altitude of 285-1800 m. The plants mostly grow terrestrially in sandy loam soil in the warm, humid tropical rain and mountain forests.
Notes: Due to the short internodes and medium-sized leaves, Philodendron quelalii is an easy-to-cultivate and undemanding ornamental plant.
