Description

Philodendron paloraense

Name: Philodendron paloraense, Croat hort.
Synonyms: unknown
Etymology: paloraense = the type specimen was found near Palora, a small village between the Andes and the Amazon Basin.
Origin: Colombia, Ecuador, Peru
Habitat: Philodendron paloraense grows epiphytically at elevations of 200–1,500 m in bright locations in warm, humid rainforests.
Notes: In nature, the species grows with horizontal petioles and drooping, three-lobed leaves, giving the plant a fascinating appearance. To achieve this effect, Philodendron paloraense should be cultivated in epiphyte pots or wooden baskets.
