Name: Philodendron gloriosum André 'Verde'
Synonym: Anthurium gloriosum K.Krause
Etymology: The genus name Philodendron comes from Greek and means “tree-loving.” The epithet gloriosum means “praiseworthy” or “magnificent.”
First description: The species was described in 1976 by Édouard-François André.
Origin / Habitat: Colombia to Peru, in humid tropical forests. It grows terrestrially and forms a creeping rhizome.
Description & Notes: A terrestrial philodendron with large, heart-shaped, velvety leaves and prominent light-colored venation. In 'Verde', the green base color is the main feature. We grow it in bright to partially shaded conditions, warm temperatures, high humidity, and good air circulation. We do not plant the rhizome deeply in the substrate and avoid waterlogging. We keep it at around 18–28 °C.
