Philodendron elegans

Name: Philodendron elegans K.Krause

Etymology: The specific epithet elegans means “elegant” and describes the finely divided leaves.

Origin/Distribution: Colombia.

Location/Habitat: Climbing to epiphytic in humid Andean forests. We cultivate the species intermediately to warmly at about 18–27 °C, high humidity, good air circulation, and bright, indirect light. A sturdy climbing support is recommended for larger plants.

Description and notes: Philodendron elegans develops deeply and regularly divided leaves, which give the species a distinctly delicate appearance. As the plant ages, the leaves become larger and more divided. We keep the coarse, airy aroid substrate consistently slightly moist.
