Description

Philodendron angustialatum

Name:Philodendron angustialatum, Engler 1905Synonyms:

unknown

Etymology:

angusti- = narrow, narrow-leaved
latus = broad, broad-leaved
refers to the unusual leaf shape, narrow at the base and widening towards the tip.

hemi-epiphytic, in premontane mountain forests with tropical warm-humid forests on the eastern Andes in partially shaded locations at an altitude of 300-1200m

Notes:

The narrowing at the base of the petiole typical for Philodendron angustialatum is primarily found in very fresh leaves. In older leaves, the difference in width grows out again. The final, typical leaf shape for this species only appears on older plants.
