Name: Zelenkoa onusta (Lindl.) M.W.Chase & N.H.Williams
Etymology: The genus name Zelenkoa honors the orchid enthusiast Harry Zelenko; onusta means "laden," referring to the heavily flowered inflorescences.
Origin/Distribution: Ecuador and Peru.
Habitat: An epiphytic orchid of seasonally dry forests. Cultivate in very bright conditions, warm to intermediate temperatures, and with good air movement. A coarse, fast-draining substrate is important. Water regularly during growth; maintain a significantly drier phase after the pseudobulbs have matured. Temperatures of approximately 17–29 °C are suitable.
Description and Notes: Zelenkoa onusta remains compact and forms flattened pseudobulbs with firm leaves. The arching to pendulous inflorescences bear numerous bright yellow flowers, often with reddish-brown markings. High light levels and a seasonally drier cultivation promote flowering.
