Description

stelis superbiens

Name: Stelis superbiens

Etymology: The genus name Stelis is derived from the Greek word for "mistletoe"; superbiens translates roughly to "magnificent" or "proud."

Origin/Distribution: Andean region of South America.

Location/Habitat: We cultivate the species in cool to intermediate conditions at approximately 9–22 °C, with high humidity, diffuse light, and continuous air movement. We keep the fine root system consistently slightly moist.

Description and Notes: The species forms leathery leaves on slender shoots and upright, multi-flowered inflorescences. A fine, airy, and slightly moisture-retaining substrate is ideal; we avoid complete drying out.
