Description

Schomburgkia rosea

Name: Schomburgkia rosea

Location/Habitat: A robust epiphytic orchid from bright, seasonally dry habitats. Grow in very bright to sunny conditions, warm temperatures, and with strong air movement. Coarse bark, lava rock, or mounting are all suitable. Water generously during growth; keep considerably drier once the new growths have matured. Temperatures of about 19–31 °C are suitable.

Description and Notes: Schomburgkia rosea develops large pseudobulbs and long, branched inflorescences bearing numerous pink to purple flowers. Mature plants need plenty of space and a stable position. High light levels are essential for vigorous growth and flower production.
