Description

Schomburgkia lueddemannii

Name: Schomburgkia lueddemannii

Location/Habitat: A robust epiphytic orchid from bright, seasonally dry habitats. Grow it in very bright to sunny conditions, with warmth and strong air movement. Coarse bark, lava rock, or mounted culture are all suitable. Water generously during growth; keep considerably drier once the growths have matured. Temperatures of about 19–30 °C are suitable.

Description and notes: Schomburgkia lueddemannii develops robust pseudobulbs and long, branched inflorescences with numerous pink to purple flowers. Due to its size, the plant needs plenty of space and a stable position. High light levels and a seasonally drier period support flowering.
