Description

Rossioglossum insleayi (5 cm pot)

Name: Rossioglossum insleayi

Origin/Distribution: The species is native to Mexico, where it grows in montane forests.

Location/Habitat: We grow Rossioglossum insleayi in cool to intermediate conditions at around 13–23 °C, in bright light with protection from intense midday sun, high humidity, and good air circulation. We keep the airy orchid substrate evenly slightly moist during growth; once the pseudobulbs have matured, we reduce watering somewhat.

Description and Notes: The species produces robust pseudobulbs and striking, waxy flowers with a yellow base color and distinctive brown markings. Cooler nights and sufficient light promote compact growth and flowering.
