Description

Restrepia trichoglossa ‘#3’

Name: Restrepia trichoglossa ‘#3’

Etymology: The genus name Restrepia honors José Restrepo; trichoglossa roughly means “hairy tongue” and refers to the flower’s lip.

Origin/Distribution: The species is distributed from Central America to the Andes of South America.

Growing conditions/Habitat: We grow ‘#3’ in cool to intermediate conditions at around 13–23 °C, with high humidity, bright filtered light, and gentle air movement. We keep the fine, airy substrate evenly slightly moist.

Description and notes: Restrepia trichoglossa is a variable, floriferous miniature orchid. The selection ‘#3’ displays the species’ characteristic delicately patterned flowers. Well-established growths can produce flowers repeatedly and are very well suited to a display case or a temperate greenhouse.
