Description

Restrepia brachypus #4

Name: Restrepia brachypus ‘#4’

Etymology: The genus name Restrepia honors José Restrepo; brachypus means “short-footed” and refers to the flower’s short column.

Origin/Distribution: The species is found in the Andes of northern and western South America.

Location/Habitat: We grow ‘#4’ in cool to intermediate conditions at around 13–23°C, with high humidity, bright filtered light, and gentle air movement. We keep the fine, airy potting medium evenly lightly moist.

Description and Notes: Restrepia brachypus is highly variable in flower color, pattern, and size. The ‘#4’ selection was chosen for its distinctive floral appearance. Well-established shoots can bloom repeatedly and produce new flowers over extended periods.
