Origin/Distribution: The species is distributed in the Andes of northwestern South America.
Location/Habitat: We grow ‘Ecuagenera’ in cool to intermediate conditions at about 13–22 °C, with very high humidity, bright filtered light, and continuous gentle air movement. The fine, airy substrate is kept evenly slightly moist.
Description and Notes: This compact miniature orchid produces upright growths, each with a single leaf. Its distinctive flowers appear laterally at the base of the leaf; established growths can bloom repeatedly. The ‘Ecuagenera’ selection is cultivated for its distinctive floral pattern.
