Description

Renanthera Gerald Tan

Name: Renanthera Gerald Tan
First description: Renanthera Gerald Tan was registered by Gardens by the Bay in 2017 and bred by Neo Tuan Hong. The cross is Renanthera Singapore Boy × Renanthera Datin Blanche Olbery.
Origin / Distribution: A horticultural hybrid with no natural range. Its botanical ancestors originate from Southeast Asia and the Philippines.
Location / Habitat: Due to its Renanthera ancestry, this hybrid prefers warm, very bright, and airy conditions with high humidity.
Description & Notes: Renanthera Gerald Tan is a vigorously growing, monopodial orchid with elongated, leathery leaves. Numerous intensely red to red-orange flowers with narrow, star-shaped tepals appear on long, often branched inflorescences. We grow it warm, in very bright, filtered light, with high humidity and strong air circulation. During active growth, we water and fertilize regularly, but allow the roots to dry out well between waterings.
