Name: Pleurothallis perijaensis

Etymology: The genus name Pleurothallis means “side-flowering”; perijaensis refers to the Serranía del Perijá on the border between Colombia and Venezuela.

Origin/Distribution: Northern Andean region of South America, especially the Serranía del Perijá.

Location/Habitat: We grow the species in cool conditions at around 9–21°C, with very high humidity, diffuse light, and continuous air movement. We keep the roots evenly slightly moist.

Description and Notes: This pseudobulbless Pleurothallidinae produces leathery leaves and small, intricately detailed flowers. A fine, airy, and slightly moisture-retaining substrate or a mounted culture in high humidity is well suited. We avoid prolonged periods of warmth.
